The Wacaco story started with a bad cup of coffee – specifically, a truly terrible espresso in a mid-range hotel room in 2013. Hugo Cailleton, an industrial design graduate with strong opinions about coffee, decided to do something about it. Twenty months and ten-plus prototypes later, the original Minipresso was born: a single-handed, handheld espresso machine that genuinely worked. That one idea has since grown into one of the most inventive portable coffee ranges around. The Nanopresso pushed extraction pressure further. The Pixapresso went electric – heating the water and pulling the shot from a single hand-held device, with no kettle required.
