The triple stripes on these Japanese-made socks remind us of vintage sportswear – which is appropriate enough, given that they’re knitted on original 1970s machines. It’s a slower process than the kit most factories are using to crank out cheap and cheerful supermarket socks, but the end result is vastly superior. What’s more, the factory where Anonymous Ism makes their socks runs almost entirely on solar power. Style, substance and sustainability – what more could you ask for?
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade – at least, you do if you’re premium Japanese sock brand, Anonymous Ism. After their factory burned down in a catastrophic fire, they saw the chance to rebuild better, switching almost entirely to solar energy. They still use traditional knitting machines to produce incredibly high-spec socks, just as they’ve always done, but the power driving them is a whole lot cleaner than the competition.
That same long view carries through to how the business treats its people. These socks aren’t contracted out overseas to the lowest bidder – they’re proudly Japanese-made by specialists who’ve made a career out of their craft. Every pair is designed and knitted in Japan using top-quality yarns – from psychedelic kasuri-dyed cotton to Nordic-style jacquard-pattern socks in durable wool-blend fibres.
For Anonymous Ism, ‘sustainability’ is about more than just using recycled or organic materials; it means keeping skilled craftsmanship alive, investing heavily in renewable energy and making the best product possible. If you agree, why not vote with your feet?
