The Grayl Geopress is one of the most effective water purifiers out there, providing global protection from all sorts of waterborne pathogens (offering both viral and bacterial filtration), as well as removing particulates, chemicals, heavy metals and pesticides. It’s also incredibly quick and easy to use. But to keep it in optimum condition, the purifier cartridge should be replaced every 350 cycles (65 gal. or 250 litres). Unlike many other filters and purifiers on the market, the cartridge will continue to protect. But press time will increase, so if you’re finding it tougher to use your Geopress and it’s taking longer than 25-30 seconds to get clean water, then it’s time to replace the cartridge. GeoPress cartridges were redesigned in April 2023 with a new "core" and "flow channels" to accommodate a one-way valve making it possible to add electrolytes, drink mixes and other flavoured liquids into GeoPress
Replacement cartridge for the Grayl Geopress, required when “press time” reaches ~25 seconds (or three years have elapsed since first use)
Restores the Geopress’s Fast Flow Rate to just 8 seconds per 700ml (equivalent to 5 litres per minute)
Contains ion exchange and ultra-powdered activated carbon filter (antimicrobial and chemical-free)
Cartridge lifespan rated for 350 cycles (65 gal./250 litres)
Removes waterborne pathogens (viruses, bacteria, protozoan cysts), including Rotavirus, Hepatitis A, Norovirus, Giardiasis, Cryptosporidium, E. Coli, Cholera, Salmonella, Dysentery and more
Filters particulates (sediment, microplastics) and many chemicals, pesticides, and heavy metals
Improves taste, smell and clarity
Stored under proper conditions, an unused (and airtight) purifier cartridge has a shelf life of 10 years

Like many of the best ideas, it all started with a simple sketch on a bar napkin. It became an obsession: to make the perfect portable water purifier, a device that could deliver safe, self-reliant and sustainable adventures across the globe. Because as all travellers know, access to clean drinking water is vital to any trip. But relying on single-use plastic bottles for hydration is expensive and wasteful.
GRAYL’s solution was a range of portable, compact and easy to use bottle purifiers. Fill it, press down and drink. The design works on every continent, whether you’re drawing water from murky rivers, sketchy taps or stagnant lakes. It uses your own body weight to push water through a two-stage purifier. That means it’s fast – really fast. But it also provides complete protection against all waterborne pathogens, even viruses, and it makes water taste great too, filtering out chemicals, heavy metals and microplastics. You’ll never need to buy bottled water again. In short, it’s the holy grail of water purification.
Easy to use. It gave me that extra filtration I was looking for while traveling.
